When I began building custom cafe racers in a second rental space in Queens, I never thought motorcycles could teach me to meditate and be still yet that’s exactly what I found. Building and restoring old bikes has taught me to slow down, how to focus and how to take time and do it right.

We tore through corn fields and forests on dirt bikes when we were teens and then we fell in love with the motorcycles our parents and grandparents owned. As a 360 degree artist, I see motorcycles as an evolving story of man’s creativity and passion. I can just sit with a beautiful motorcycle for hours in a dusty old garage and admire every detail. My pops and his brothers owned Japanese bikes and my grandfather owned an Indian 440 and I grew up washing my uncles bikes as a toddler. I was wide eyed and amazed that I was allowed to be so close to such magnificent machines and I’ve never lost that intense feeling.”

Motorcycles has been a passion of mine since I was a child. Watching my dad and his brothers wash their bikes in the driveway with the hose under the summer sun was just the beginning to a lifelong passion for vintage iron.
Clubman cycles is now a small team of very talented artisans living in and around NYC who have mastered their craft and put it to good use in making motorcycles by hand. Joshua Lutz founded Clubman Cycles to take the cafe racer stance of the 2010’s and meld it with new shapes, ideas and inspirations not yet seen in the world of racer customizing. Clubman Cycles seeks to supply the high demand of these vintage bikes at an incredibly low cost to our consumers. Each one-off bike is a testament to the old world craftsmanship that is quintessential vintage. Each motorcycle we build is a one of a kind rolling piece of artwork that makes people run out in the street waving their arms excitedly shouting, “where the heck did you get that bike?!” We get that a lot actually whenever we take one of ours out.

Before the recent re-birth of the British Cafe Racer, I simply called these bikes “vintage motorcycles.” Now that the global motorcycle community has adopted a niche name for these beautiful old clip-ons, CMC is proud to be on the forefront of the evolution. We build custom one off bikes for a very elite clientèle, providing a unique and elusive kind of solution for those looking for a “show room” cafe racer of the highest quality available.
